Migrating from Wordpress
Download
First you have to download the latest version of Open Blog.
The latest version can always be found on this address.
Notice: Open Blog migrator has only been tested with Wordpress 2.7, migrating from older versions could give unpredicted results.
Migrating part 1: Uploading files to your server
After you have downloaded the latest version of Open Blog, you need to unpack it and upload it to your server.
- Unpack the files using one of the programs of your choice (if you don't have one, we recommend Winrar)
- When you unpack the files, you need to upload them to your web server (you can use FileZilla or any other client of your choice)
Migrating part 2: Running the migrator
After the files have been successfully uploaded to your server, you need to run the Open Blog automatic PHP migrator, which will do all the hard work for you.
- Visit the website where you uploaded the files to - for example http://www.yoursite.com/blog/install/index.php
- You should see a page like this:

- Click on the "Migrate from Wordpress" link
- Press the "Start migration ››" button and you should see the next page:

- Now you need to change the permissions for the folder config/ so everyone can write to it (CHMOD 777).
After you have changed the permissions, click the "Refresh" button on the right and the yellow alert sign should change to the green tick:
- Click the "Step 2 ››" button on the right and the following will appear:

- Database hostname - your Wordpress database hostname
- Database username - your Wordpress database username
- Database password - password for your username
- Database name - name of the database where the Wordpress tables are stored
- Tables prefix - prefix of the table names (the default value is wp_)
- Database hostname - your Open Blog database hostname (most likely you won't have to change it and the default value localhost will be fine)
- Database username - your Open Blog database username
- Database password - password for your username
- Database name - name of the database where the tables for Open Blog will be stored
- Tables prefix - prefix for the table names (you only need to change this if you are going to use the same database for two Open Blog installations)
- If everything went fine, you successfully migrated from Wordpress to Open Blog and you should see a page like this:

You need to fill the above form. Here is the detailed explanation:
Wordpress database information:Open Blog database information:
When you filled all the fields, press the "Migrate ››" button on the right.
Migrating part 3: Deleting the install folder
The only thing left to do is to delete the install/ folder.
When you delete it, go to your blog home page and you should see your old posts from Wordpress.
